6.5 speaker decision

Hi, I have a 2002 Nissan maxima se, I have a blown mid in my front door and I'm going to change the woofer set, I already have the tweets and the crossover. Need help deciding before buying, between the CDT Audio HD-M6 GOLD or CX62 V2 - Image Dynamics 6.5", I mostly listen to Hispanic music. I have 250 rms on the amp available for these, I want the loudest and clearest speaker available. Which would be a better choice, why? Or any other better suggestions in that price range? Thank you.

Both of those drivers are mid-bass drivers. They technically will work with a tweeter, but the midrange response means your passive crossovers might not get you the best sound. Especially since the ID mids are 2 ohm, you probably have crossovers made for 4 ohm speakers.

I'm a CDT dealer and I don't recommend HD-M6 Gold either. They're 4 ohm, but the midrange won't sound as warm and realistic as the HD-6 mids.

Another point to consider is these speakers aren't going to play to the bottom end of their rated frequency response on 250W. If it's 250W total that's different, but you'll need to raise the crossover point on the amp to avoid bottoming out the speakers.

What amp do you have? What crossovers and tweeters do you have?

I have an autotek 1000.4 amp and a kicker 3way crossover, and the cadence tweeters.
I need to know model numbers on the crossover and the tweeters. Many 3-way electronic crossovers are not appropriate for running a mid and a tweeter. I want to check for what types of filters the Kicker crossover offers.

Based on what you've shared about your amp and crossover you would be better off using a new component set with matching hardware, or else get an active capable head unit and use the amp for the mids and tweeters with all 4 channels. If you can tell us your actual budget that would be more helpful as well.

I'm doing a holiday special through Friday the 5th on CDT HD-61A for $200 shipped. This has 6.5" woofers, 1" silk tweeters, and crossovers. It will handle the power of your amplifier well as long as you use a high pass filter of at least 80 Hz. You must also set the gains correctly. The set has a 1 year warranty, but it doesn't cover damage from over-powering them.
