6.5" Door Speaker Mounting Tips

Hey guys! I'm new to the forums, but I hope I can get some help from people with solid knowledge on car audio here. Here's my issue...

I have a 2004 Volvo S80, and I do most of my own maintenance and things of that nature. So, I threw myself at a stereo makeover job. So far I believe I'm doing a good job, but the more I search for information online, the more I feel like I'm far away from a solid and complete speaker job. Here's what's going on...

Speaker Mounted In With The Foam Backing Tape

Here's my main question. I'm putting a speaker on my door unknowing of how to correctly and professionally mount it. I've read that you should seal it from behind, and from the front to the door panel. I've already made good drill holes, and I've bought self-drilling screws that have worked great in holding the speaker mount in place. The speaker sits great on the mount as well. I just want to know all the itty gritty information regarding how to mount a speaker to a door for best performance. Is what I have done so far a good thing? What should I be doing this for, reducing vibrating, sealing off air leaks, or both? I really appreciate your guys' help, and I'm looking forward to some solid advice! God bless.

I can't send the link from my phone, but cruise over to the build log section and look at keep_hope_alives builds. That's door treatment done right man. Just did my Mustang that way and it doesn't get any better.

Okay, thank you. Since I've already created this thread, I'm having issues with my JBL GTO638's making this weird distortion/flapping sound at around ~80-100Hz. I can replicate the annoying speaker sound in this song -> http://grooveshark.com/s/Valley+Of+The+Shadows/35wlvX?src=5. The bass doesn't sound proper at that range with these new speakers, yet with my old factory ones the specified bass frequency didn't sound so bad. The sound being made is like the speakers are slightly flapping and making this weird physical noise from the cone, outside of the audio that should be produced. The mount is very solid, and I'm 100% positive the sound is coming from the speaker and nowhere else from the door. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif

PS: I should add that frequencies lower than ~80Hz-100Hz sound pretty decent, as I'm running my setup without a sub. I'm just going to mount two 8" TS-M800PRO's in the back where they should fit fine in the stock rear deck housing. It's just that those higher bass notes can't be produced well by the speakers!
