6.5" Comp Set + Amp Suggestion - $300-$400 Budget

I own a '98 Lexus ES300 and just replaced the factory head unit and I am interested in upgrading the factory speakers. I do not listen to hip-hop or pop - mainly just classic rock and 90's alt rock - so I am more interested in a nice clean sound.

I have a small budget ($300-$400 or less) and I figured that installing a component set in the front and an amp to power them would be the best way to spend the money. I don't believe that I need to replace the subwoofer - for my needs (listed below) but if I did I would want to replace in original factory location (rear window 8") if I had to. What are your thoughts?

I am contemplating the Boston Acoustic SE60 due to the price ($90) and suggestions by "princ3cmo" - I understand the BA SC60 might be a little better but they are about $55 more.

Component Speakers: Any other suggestions better than this? I know the Polk MM6501 have got many suggestions on other threads but they are also maxing out my budget at $220! I understand that the Polk db6501 are cheaper but are also the entry level and I have not heard good things in regards to that.

The other two that I have been contemplating are: Massive Audio CK 6 and Cadence ZRS6K

Amplifier: I do not have a clue on this one - maybe Boston Acoustics GT-2125 (at $130)

Would it be better to get a 4-channel (not a lot of 3-channels out there) amp that can be bridged in-case I do add a small subwoofer in the future?

I've tried to do some research reading threads, but please forgive me I am a newbie.

From your choices, I'd def get that Boston Gt2125 amp and if you are considering the Massive CKs take the Boston SEs out of the picture, you'll need atleast the SCs to compete and even then the Massives have more midbass supposedly. Like I said, I'd get the 2125 amp and if u feel u want a sub later find an amp for that.

A difference of $55 makes the choice of stepping up a no-brainer. Often times going up to a brand's next higher line comes at the expense of at least another $100. Even with a low-paying job that's only a day's work depending on what part of the country you live in.

I'd say so. THat definitely sounds like a setup I'd run.

Im purchasing a Hifonics ZRX500.2 amp and a set of Morel Maximo 6's, great speakers. This is a great bang for buck combination. Pair it with some stinger wiring and you are set.

Your set-up is good, other speakers you may consider are the Morel Maximo and Digital Designs CS6.5.

Trying to decide between the Massive Audio CK6V (20Hz-22kHz; 120 RMS) and the Massive RK6 (60Hz-20kHz; 120R RMS) - both are close in price.

I am worried that my system will sound incomplete with the new component system - should I go ahead and get a budget sub and adjust to a 4-channel amp? Or should I just save my money? I posted the question about the sub in the "subwoofer" forum" - link listed below:

RK6 has a HUGE midrange. If you don't have ~3" of mounting depth in your doors plus room for the very wide magnet that's going to complicate things.

i wouldn't get the nx4 amp. there was some reviews that was saying its not that great. look at "Precision Power P900.4".

as for getting the ck's or the rk's, i'd say get the ck's because they are more sq oriented and the rk's are more spl. not only that take a look at the mounting depth and the rk's are 2 3/4" deep so that may make it difficult to install. a

for the sub i would say a skar IVX-10/12 d2ohm in a nice ported enclosure ported to around 28-30hz
