Mid in the door?
Large format tweeter like the Peerless HDS in the kick, if you want a tweeter to play midrange freqs.

A small format crossed at 2khz with a 12dB slope still plays 1k almost half as loud.

Also, get a real HU like an Eclipse. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif

2k

10 dB seems half as loud. Being 12 dB down at 1k, it's ball park i guess. Point is, the tweeter is still working down an octave with a second order roll off. Cut steeper, than it's not an issue i guess.

As many times as I've tried the Prestige aluminum down around there, I never liked it below 3.15khz or so. I'd rather have that on the MR, instead. But that's just me, carry on........ //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

gotcha. i cant seem to stand my Seas neos when crossed low either. i tried them at 2.5k/12, 2.5k/24, 3.15/12, and 3.15/24, and i prefer 4k/12 over them all.

its just that the MLI is flat till around 2.5k. i mean i had mine up to 3400 with a 12db slope and it had a decent mid range, but what can one expect in mid range when its also playing down to 60 as the MLI can with authority. i never heard the seas tweeter as i prefer silk, so i can see why people dont like them at lower x/o points. it all depends if you like the mli up that high really.

3.15Khz with an 18-24dB slope will work, but you should also try them at 4k. I just did an install with AA poly and Seas Neo's and it sounded VERY good.

Also don't be power crazy with the tweeters, especially if you cross them low.

he could under lap them. keep the tweets at 3.2 and run the mids at 2.5. i have a bigger gap than that and mine sounds right.
ehh... i suppose, but having a gap in your audio spectrum isn't exactly a good thing. At least to me anyway.

unless you're talking under 20hz and above 20khz //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif

an under lap doesn't mean there is a gap or dip in frequency response in that area.

here is some proof:

the mids are crossed at 2.5k, and the tweets are crossed at 3.15k. also i have an underlap between my sub and mids too and there isn't a dip in frequency response there either.

Tis true. Gotta remember a xover slope is NOT a brick wall. I run underlapped also; mids LPF 2.5 @ 12dB and tweeters HPF 3.15 @ 18dB and it sounds/blends very well. I've even tried the tweets at 4k and it sounded good...

yup, i have my mids at 2.5k/12db and the tweets at 4k/12db at the moment. i'm sure the rta will show a very minor dip in the middle but thats what sounds best to me.
