*$550 Budget Active System*

Not to be argumentative, but RTA is the true meter, your ears are your measure of personal success.

I agree personal taste plays a big role in building a 'successful' car stereo. But lets also remember if we take that idea too far, we'd all still be bumping RoadGear and Pyramid because hey, it sounded good at the time.

And before anyone jumps down my throat, no Im not saying a flat RTA response is the desired setup for listening. Just saying there's been times I didn't realize I had an issue till the RTA told me, I solved it, and noticed an improvement. If you are a top ranked SQ tuner/installer, yeah you probably dont even need an RTA at all anymore. But most of us can still benefit highly from a meter that discerns the difference between accuracy and personal preference.

I like building systems that sound good to me, obviously. But I also like building systems that I feel anyone would enjoy, even a more experienced/critical listener. An RTA can help achieve that.

*gets off his soap box*

oh yea, you are correct there.

i had a decent sized dips at 63hz, 500hz, a pretty big spike at 1k, and another smaller dip at around 2k. i didn't know i had any of them. fixed them all and it sounds a lot better now.

but the rta is also telling me to turn my tweeters up another 3-4db, but i don't like the highs that loud.

my system looked like a mess b4 i got the rta on it.

It's just the type of setups I like. K.I.S.S setups for everyday are the shit.

Almost same setup I went for recently. Setting mines up too. The amp used cost me 350$ already, my head-unit cost 360$. How much did you get everything for post up some prices that's some hell of a deal. I went with Seas Textile Tweeters though, illusion audio mids instead, and multiple tb 6.5" for subs. Whered you get the PDX-5 from? I saw you looking for a used one.

I got a it from a forum member, NEW //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I didn't know the 9815 did active duty. If you want a good standalone unit for more flexibility down the road, let me know. I have an Alpine 3672 crossover I don't need.

But nice setup you have going there.
