5-channel cost effectivness

I'm wondering what would be the easiest/most cost effective way to do 5-channels. I want to put in 4 speakers and an amp into my ford ranger. i was thinking i could use a 5-channel amp but they are very pricey and dont' have much of a selection.

My other limitation is my head unit only has two pre-amp outputs. One front output and one switchable rear/sub output.

Does any one have a suggestion on how i should wire this mess?(number of amps ext.)

Or should i just skit the two rear speakers and just go with 2 loud front speakers adn the amp?

Yes!

Get some really good components up front and a high quality amp to power them. You don't need crazy power for mid high, 75 to 100watts RMS x2 will do fine just make sure its a high quality amp.

Now get a bigass classD sub amp and some monster subs.

Now you are good to go.

You REALLY don't need those rear speakers, especially in a ranger. Just get a nice 2 channel amp and some good components like was stated earlier. Just in our trucks there is no point at all.

ok so we are look at a nice 2-channel amp for the two components in the front and then a 2 channel amp for to subs in the back or maybe just a mono-amp for one big sub.

What brand would be good to look for to get an amp for the components?

o and one more thing when you say 75-100 watts x2 do you mean 75-100 each or combined??

Should i go with compenent speakers or a componant system do you think? also what is really the difference between the two because i'm having a hard time finding compenent speakers that will fit my car that are over 50w rms

the 5 channel amp idea is a good one but most have too small of a sub channel

except the big memphis belle,and expect to pay alot for it

really though the rear speakers can be either left out completly or run off the HU IMO

definatly run comps up front,100 watts per channel is a nice set up

components are so much better than coaxials. if i were you, i would NOT spend any money at circuit city or best buy - unless you are getting an employee discount.

try this amp for your door speakers-

maybe this for a pair of SVC\DVC4 10" speakers - trucks dont have that much depth, so 10's might be all you can fit.

if you use SVC4 subs, you will get ~200x2, if you use DVC4 and wire each to 2 ohms, you will get ~300x2.

heres a well priced set of comps, ive not used them - but they are a good price for what they appear to be;

heres a wiring kit that will be able to pull enough current to power both amps - with wire left over-

http://www.knukonceptz.com/productDetail.cfm?prodID=eKo-K4

heres a fuse block that will split your 4awg wire to each amplifier

http://www.knukonceptz.com/productDetail.cfm?prodID=FB-3438S

buy like 10 feet of this to go from the distrobution block to each amplifier, and then use the extra to hook to your ground(s) on each amp to somthing like a seat bolt.

http://www.knukonceptz.com/productDetail.cfm?prodID=KOL8RS

here is another RCA to hook the second amp up (the first kit only comes with one)

http://www.knukonceptz.com/productDetail.cfm?prodID=KLA-5M

and you are definatly going to want a few terminals;

8awg rings (used to hook the ground from the amplifier)

http://www.knukonceptz.com/productDetail.cfm?prodID=RT8516BK

and some speaker wire to hook your subs to your amp;

http://www.knukonceptz.com/productDetail.cfm?prodID=KLE16BL

and if you can fit, a pair of these would be sweet, but if you got somthing like this, id recommend a bigger amp for the subwoofers;

an amp like this one maybe;

Coaxial speakers are often a far better choice given install limitations and goals. Several speaker manufacturers make some of their best offerings in either a coaxial or hybrid setup. The stock tweeter locations of many vehicles translate into very poor response and even the good shops overlook this, and sometimes intentionally ignore it.

So make your own positions.. not that hard.

No, not that hard. Not saying it is... but some folk want a simple stealth setup, agreed? Especially those who don't want to cut up there vehicle for one reason or another.
