4ohm in series or 8ohms in parallel?

I typed out a long question & it kept telling me "not allowed"---- hang on I'll see if I can get all the info out

I have 2 Boston 8" G108-44 200w rms & a Kenwood KAC-9102D 500w rms 4ohm / 850w rms 2ohm.

Those #'s come from their specs.

Not wanting to hurt my system, & to get the most out of them, I have a wiring question.

By the numbers I see that I wouldn't want to run the subs at 4ohm in parallel & push the spec'd 850w @ 2ohms at them.

So I guess I have two choices.

I could configure the subs @ 8ohms, run in parallel to 4ohms & push the spec'd 500w rms. Ofcourse I would have to assume that the Kenwood amp is pushing less than the stated 500 rms.

Or I could configure the subs @ 4ohms & run in series & have 8ohms for the amp to drive. I have no specs on what the amp would push when going against 8ohms, but obviously it would be less than the rated combined rms of the subs.

What say all you experts out there?

I would wire for a 4ohm final, my kenwood amps pushed great i thought. Plus at 4ohms the amp does rated most likly, and thats 100wrms over head sounds perfect.

Wire the subs coils in parallel and then together in series

Run them at 2 ohms and set the gain on the amp correctly. Then you won't be overpowering them.
There D4 subs he cant wire to 2ohms, its 4ohms or 1ohm or 8ohms

Gotcha he never said they were d4 so I just assumed svc4.

Gotcha he never said they were d4 so I just assumed svc4.
-44 means 2 4ohm coils

 
If I have them set @ 4ohms, & run in parallel that would be 2 ohms, but the amp supposedly pushes 850 watts & my subs are 200w rms each so IMHO 850w pushing into 400w speakers is just asking for a disaster waiting to happen.

So it looks like the popular opinion would be to set at 8ohm, run in parallel for 4ohms & the amp pushing 500w would be fine.

No it wouldnt, there D4 man. You can run 1ohm, 4ohms, or 8ohms. A 2ohm load isnt possible, at 8ohms ude get like 250watts outa the amp so thats not a good idea.

4ohms is really ure only option with that amp, since 8ohms would under power your speakers
