$400 for complete system. what to get?

My father is letting me put together the audio for a 1968 mgb

He wants to stay around $400 or less.

I need a

head unit

6.5" comps

sub(s)

amp (preferably 1 for everything)

the goal of this set-up is SOUND QUALITY on a budget

I am looking to buy new, but I might buy used if the right deal comes along.

practically undoable if your talking about any type of SQ.

you may, (very slight) get some noise for $400

not trying to dog you out, but used is going to serve you much better and adding a few more $ will open a world of possibilities.

I have the wiring and can get a box built for free. not neccessarily looking for an SQ sub, but something that will sound good. basically I dont want people to tell me to get a type r because it will get loud.

I was thinking possibly a sundown 8" . theyre not much more than $50 and maybe I could find one used for that or less.

for the sub, something 8"-12" that sounds good off of only a couple hundred watts.

for the comps something cheap that will still sound pretty good. tweets need to be smooth.

the headunit just needs to be cheap and solid.

I would really like one amp to run everything

Im hoping to find a decen hu and amp on craigslist, but Im open.

I was hoping to be able to spend a couple hundred more, but he made it clear today that he doesnt want to spend an arm and a leg on something not too important for him. the $400 budget is not firm, but I dont want to end up spending way over that.
