40.1 problem/ bass problem

It really wouldnt be worth it...its noticeably lower...somethin is up....radio is ok since we tested with mine as well...voltage is not the same as before only dipping to 12s...maybe amp...dk...he'll figure it out hopefully:crazy:
Chattin with kenny now, said it might be pulling more current? Said about the same voltage drops as before

Also do you know the preamp output voltage on your deck to see if its different than his for that test you guys did?

Kenny, we'll figure it out one way or another...hopefully Nick will have some input, if there are any issues I'll help you get it figured.

Mann from what i remember when it was full tilt last time we metered it would touch 11s....now it barely get in 12s....and i believe both our radios are 2v..soo not much diff id guess. The one time i need pioneers site its down for maintence....bastards

We need to get a clamp dmm to test the draw but havent gotten around to one just yet.

But its def. noticeably lower...we'll meter later maybe or tomm to confirm but its about 145ish now.

Welp thanks for the help you can give him to figuring this out...great guy to deal with from what i hear:)

what else can a person really check

voltage - checked at the amp, 14.4 at rest, drops to low 12's on the music

different deck/rca's - just gotta doublecheck the preamp voltage, and yes pioneer sucks for having their site down right now //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Grounds - don't think thats the issue, grounds run from amp are connected via ring terminals to 3 ground runs that go straight to the front batt. Only issue I could think with grounds would be that connection in the back where the two amp grounds make a junction to the 3 runs up front

Subs - checked the subs with a DMM and they spec out where they should

Can anybody think of any other tests to try, or things to look at?

Apparently this same problem occurred when the amp was first fired up and after all the connections were wiggled/messed with the power came up to full swing.

He thinks its the same...i actually dont.

When he first hooked it up it was like a muffled sound like almost no bass just like rattles....now this is just like lower bass but it still sounds like bass...at least this is my take on it.

Just thinkin out loud

220 amp alt, small batt up front, yellow top in the back. Could definately use more batt but that wouldn't explain why it was loud at first and not now. If it was under-current would think it would have been low output to begin with.

I can't really think of anything else to test. Not sure clamping it is going to do anything as what your amp does on your electrical isn't going to match anybody elses. If it was clamped before the noticed change it would make a good test.

All head unit settings have been verified as they were before the noticed change.

Amp was putting out good, shut system off, next power up seemed noticeably quieter, and nothing had changed.

If nothing else to check it kinda points towards the amp, just not sure what would cause this scenario. Hopefully Nick has some ideas or others think of some possible issues or other items to test.

All connections still tight? My brother's truck got quieter because we had a loose ground wire. Not saying it is necessarily your ground... but if you are driving around listening in the 150s something can EASILY get loosened up.

Sounds like a problem with your flux capacitor
aw man on an old explorer fourm i used to post on, we had this thread this noob made one day about his blinker that wasent working...someone told him his flux capacitor is bad and he needed some blinker fluid, and we photoshopped a bottle of brake fluid or somethin to say "blinker fluid" and it was like 10 pages long and this guy was goin to auto zone n shit looking for flux caps and blinker fluid OMG it was hilarious lol

The problem was that one sub wasnt coming on... checked the speaker wire in the box it was good.... so i tugged good on all the sub speaker wires on the box, the positive terminal came off. it wasnt getting a good contact..

Put a new terminal taped it back up and started working..
