This is my first car audio system ever!
I hope to get useful opinions.
Take a look at some of the way things are installed and see if there is anything that looks dangerous.
Here is the review my installer wrote on the job he did to my car:
I'm going back next week to have him install the Super-Sonic-Filter, so if there is anything that looks like it needs to be fixed, please let me know //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif
Also, is it safe to have the fuse holder hanging on the side like that in the picture of it being connected to the battery? Or should this fuse holder be mounted to something?

The Deck, this part was easy but unfortunately the kenwood trim peice will not fit under or over the toyota dash trim thus the deck sticks out a little bit. not too bad though.
The 6000's... had to build 3/4" MDF spacers for these to clear the window. now they push up against the door panel and keep the bottom corner of the door panel from being completely flush. You only notice it if you look for it though. Mounted them coaxial like since I knew they were bright. Also put a bit of deadening on the doors and around the speakers for a good seal. BTW... they are running at -3db.
power and signal transmission... 4 gu knu concepts power/ground. had to notch a hole in the oem postive battery cover. loomed up all the wire under the hood. Power goes through the firewall by sharing the rubber boot used for the steering shaft. ground is a piece the the trunk framing, drilled a hole in it, polished it, bolted the ground to it. RCA's and remote are run down the center console, power down the driver side. Noticed a small bit of alternator whine, not bad enough to cry about it.
Deadened and great stuffd the trunk, made it alot more solid, does not rattle near as much. also, don't have a picture but the rear speakers were removed and we put alot of fatmat on the rear deck and on the deck cover. really cleaned up the music... alot. The subs still have their way with the trunk but its better than it was. Also not shown, there is an oem trunk lid cover so none of the fatmat is showing.
Amp rack... made of 3/4" mdf and covered with eom style carpet. The wood cutting is not a perfect match to the whole but I purposely left some carpet loose on the ends to provide the optical illusion that I'm a carpenter. Its pretty sexy. only covered on one side though, if he ever folds down the rear seat there is bear MDF. Mounted to it is a nine.2x on the left pushing the subs and a nine.2 pushing the fronts.
The bassmakers... (2) 13Kv.3's... These subs do their thing. their mounted in an eD made slot vented box tuned to 30hz. the box is held down by a metal strap on each side which is ran through a hole in the carpet (hidden under the box) and then bolts down to the spare tire cover (some thin particle board). This is what you see when you open the trunk...
My review...
the deck, pretty good for how cheap it is, I'd go with an ebay'd pioneer with a prettier interface before this one though. Does the job though and has 1/8" aux input jack for ipod/laptop which is nice.
the nine.2 and nine.2x (i feel the same about them)... they are **** sexy. they do the job, the nine.2 doesn't even get much above room temp and has every function needed. the nine.2x gets warm enough that its uncomortable to leave your hand on it but not so hot that it will burn you. one function I wish the nine.2x had, SSF, we need and SSF.
The 6000's, They are great for the money. the woofers amaze me with how clean they are even belching out the bass. they alone put out more bass then most old people can handle. the crossovers and sexy looking and do their job perfect. The tweeters... ehh. they are bright and lack detail. I don't know what one can expect from $135 speakers though. I can say with confidence though that I'd rather listen to these than the infinity reference series components, the woofers on the 6000's make them worth it. one mans opinion.
the box... its a box. eD must have some kind of precision cutting tool. all cuts are perfect . the box is very sturdy, the wire connectors on the outside of the box are easy to use. the carpet is nice, but i perfer the oem look and the carpet does not look oem at all. Also, it'd be cool if the port came painted or something, the bear mdf inside kind of stands out. another note... there is no audible port noise at all.
the wiring, great... easy to work with. much better than the ebay crap.
the fatmat, I much perfer eDead, fatmat is not nearly as sticky as the edead nor is it as thick nor is it as flexible. eDead>Fatmat. but... it did stop alot of rattles though so its not a failure.
the 13Kv.3's. Sexy just like all the other eD stuff. these things are quite impressive. the move alot of air. playing low hertz test tones, his sunroof flexes at least 1/4" and his trunk gets completely owned. meanwhile, they are clean bass. I really like listening to rap music on this setup. rock however suffered, it was not quite as punchy as I like (I'm a sealed box lover though). We did however find the limits of these things, playing a screwed and chopped version of late night tip we were able to see the subs really get moving, on the lowest note it causes that dimpling effect in the rubber surround. actually heard the coil hit something at one point... thats when we turned it down. overall considering price, SQ, SPL, build, warrenty... I give them a 9/10
Still left to do... He's buying an external subsonic filter so we can get rid of those notes the box is allowing to go crazy. thats just a protection thing though. its sounds great, alot of rattling was killed, alot of rattling was introduce. its a lifelong battle. the first thing I'd upgrade (besides the SSF) would be either a nicer deck or a nicer pair of front stage speakers. (esp tweeters).
**edit** I wish we would have tried switching the phase on the tweeters. maybe I'd feel differently about them if that helped.
