4 ported? or 8 sealed?

so i bought some re 8's the original plan was to do 4 of them ported in my std cab s10. after seeing how cheap they were and how little airspace they take, i was wondering. should i do 4 ported in a 2 cft box before port displacements tuned to around 30 hz? or 8 sealed in a 2.58 cft box?. which do you guys think i would be more happy with? i listen to mostly rap music but the ocasional(sp?) rock song every now and then.

if power and money aren't an issue, i'd take linearity and fast response over low end extension.

Ported enclosures are pretty hit or miss. and with something that small, you're gonna have to go pretty extreme in your design, whether it be to hit lows, or get a high output peak, so i'd say neither, and seal them, double them, and have the best well-rounded install.

money isnt a problem i can alway save up 2 more weeks and get 8 more and another amp

this is partially true, a sealed box can technically play lower frequencies, yes

but a sealed box will generally have an f3 higher than a ported box

unless of course the ported box is tuned higher than the sealed box rolls off
