4 Ohm Subwoofer amps

So I am currently looking for an amp for a 12" IDMAX V3 D2 that I recently bought. The IDMAX will be wired to 4 ohms as I prefer that to running at 1 ohm.

The box is a 1.31 Cubic Foot Sealed enclosure after Sub displacement. I listen to literally all types of music. I have no honest interest SPL comps or putting up big numbers.

HU is a Clarion HX-D10. I'm currently running a JL 250/1. I picked it up for a great price and used it to power my 10" IDQ. I then came across the IDMAX for a great price and just could not resist.

I am looking for something between 500-1,000 RMS.

Right now I am considering the below:

Arc Audio KS 1000.1

JL Audio 1000/1

JL Audio 500/1

Also considering a Class AB 2 channel bridged to say around 500-600 RMS.

Price range is no more then around 350$. I know used is the only choice on the JL and Arc and I have no problem with that at all.

So any recommendations and insight into the best choice is greatly appreciated. Would I be better off running something in the 500-600 Watts RMS range as opposed to the 1,000 watts RMS range?

Thanks,

Brandon

why 4 ohms,just curious
From my understanding 1 ohm is going to have more distortion then 4 ohm as well as being less efficient/more heat. I am running a stock 90 amp alternator and stock battery (Car has less then 4k miles so not looking to go yellow top currently). Right now I have no dimming off my 250/1 and my Rubicon 300.2. Would like to keep it that way presently.

Since I don't care about SPL and am more concerned with SQ I feel that 4 ohms would be a better choice. Less distortion and damping is a plus I feel even if it may not necessarily audible.

Less amperage is for sure noticeable //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Look into the Cadence iA7.

That was what was recommended to me for my Mag v4 I just bought. Does 500+ watts at 4ohm.

Though I will be watching this thread closely. Looking for almost the exact same amp recommendations (500-800w @ 4ohm for a SQ setup).

Running an amp at 1 ohm generally produces more heat & distortion, causes your amplifier to run harder, and in many cases reduces its useful life. I go against the ca.com grain in that I would purchase another amp before I would run something @ 1 ohm, but that is just a personal preference of mine.

A class a/b amp in your price range would be the Rockford Fosgate Punch P500-2. Then again, if you are happy with your 250/1, why not consider a 500/1 or a 1000/1. From what I saw in another thread the 1000/1 v2 just came out so you should be able to find a deal on an older unit.
