4 ohm DVC Sub @ 4 ohms?

I have a RE SE 12" sub with 4 ohm DVC. I am currently running it @ 8 ohms because my amp is rated @ 4 ohms to the sub.

Is there a ways to wire it as 2 ohm and add a 2 ohm resistor in the wiring to make it run @ 4 ohms so I don't lose all the power @ 8 ohms?

It would have to be one hell of a resistor to handle the current. I wouldn't do it. If the box is relatively large and ported . . it may just work fine @ 2 ohm. Try it and roll the volume up. (Just make sure you have a subsonic filter set to 30+ hz to not play below tuning)

no because the power is distributed based on the resistance. This means that the sub would be seeing only half the power and the resistor would see the other half. It's a horrible idea. You just need to get the right amp.
