Hey I just ordered 4 12" alpine type-r's (yes the new ones) and I want to put them in my trunk. My biggest box that I can fit in there (without building INSIDE the trunk) is 37 wide, 16 high, and 19.5 deep. I am pretty good at designing, and building boxes, but I want to fit all 4 facing my back seat, ported. Only thing I was thinking, is have 3 ( like OOO ) and slot ports at the bottom, and one facing the rear, or where its got 2 in the middle, and 1 on each side angled 45 degrees.. similar to /--\ (if you can understand that) with the 4 subs all right there. Let me know what you think. If i do it like that, how do I make the measurements correct? I always have difficulty doing that. Thanks

Andrew

BTW I have a van now that i am redoing the interior in, and building a wall for the type rs, but i want them in my car until im ready for them. So this is temporary.

that a pretty small enclosure for 4 type r subs if your gonna port them. Even if you use the max. specs you have listed for your box, and just make 1 chamber for all 4 r's, i get 5.36 ft 3 or 1.34 ft 3 for each sub. thats not even including displacement, angle for the subs on the side, or your port size. Your probably not gonna get the performance 4 type r's should get u. im guessing your trunk is pretty close to mine in size, so i would build it so all your subs are facing up, and make it 37" wide (same as before, 14.5" high ( some space for the subs), and im guessing from your seats to the end of ur trunk you have at least 30-35 inches, so say 30 minimum. That comes out to about 8 ft 3 even, and can give you 2 ft a sub, (proly more like 1.75 after port and displacement, and that would work better for your car. As for your van, i would build it much higher and attempt to get close to the reccomended size. All in all the minimum size i would go for a type r ported is 1.75 cubic ft. your best bet is to wait and build it for your van, cause i dont see how you could build a box that would fit in your trunk that would also fit in your van, unless you were to stand the box i suggested for your car upright in your van. or if you really want to, you could just eat everything i have said and build the box with less airspace as you suggested.

Youd probably be better off using two of them and then giving the other two to me!//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif
