Ok so a friend of mine has a 320.4 TMA amp and it pushes 60x4 RMS. He has eclipse 5x7s that only handle 40watts rms. Also the amp has a channel switch that switches between 4 and 2 channel operation. I was thinking about this idea: if the amp was in 4 channel mode and only two channels were being used as in hook the left 2 speakers to one channel and the same for the right speakers on the other channel. and leave the other two of the four channels were unused. Would the power still be split between the two channels as in ~30watts RMS to each speaker on each of the two channels or would the other two channels since nothing is drawing the power from them would the power still be on the other two channels as if it was in 2 channel mode. If this is the case could i simply connect a strand of speaker wire to take the power away or should i just hook maybe some 50-60 watt RMS tweets to the other two channels to take the power?
Thanks in advance
