4 15s vented or 12 10s sealed?!?!?

I am wanting peoples opinion on what they think would be louder judging by experience.

I have 12 10" MTX 4000s in a sealed per sub box.

I am now putting in 4 15" Rockford Fosgate HX2s in a vented box tuned at 42Hz designed by Rockford.

The systems are powered by (2) BD1000.1s in the extended section of a Ranger XLT.

The 12 10s hit 152.9 db and I am hoping to do better with the 15s.

I guess I am wanting opinions for if I made the right decision and if you think the 4 15s will do better than the 12 10s. Thanks alot.

That dude's gallery is cool!//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

12 10's //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wowflash.gif.89a61f4caede63a11dac36e97d61323e.gif

is it just me or would your 4 15s be way better if puched with mroe wattage, like 4000 w rms or if want something cheap at leach 2 bx1500d's cause th hx2's are rated at 1000 rms or am i wrong?and well the 10s had about 1/3 more surface area, but you are porting, its a toss up, but again if you were to feed those hx2's right they would hands down

acually i beleive that the hx2's are 500wrms, the power hx2s are 1000wrms //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/thumbsup.gif.3287b36ca96645a13a43aff531f37f02.gif therefore going with around 2000wrms of power, instead of 4000wrms

Just thought I'd post my friend's system. This is in an extended cab Tacoma.

156db before they were broken in, he's going to retest them now that they're broken in.

Are those the Rockford Punchs? 156 db is awesome. Have you sat in it before. What'd ya think? What amps does he have running those bad boys. I am wanting to put the HX2 15s in my Ranger. So hopfully I can get mid to high 150s. I really like the box design that hes got. I definately give him props for that. Thanks alot for posting that.

I believe they're Rockford Fosgate Power T10001bds. Yeah we've gone cruising quite a bit, pretty funny. We'll stop at a friend's house to show them, they sit in there and almost jump out as soon as the bass hits. You could almost mix a drink in the center console with how much cups jump. He designed it but had the car audio place install it... it's really not the kind of install the average person is used to.

It's kind of funny, you have the coaxials blasting in 1 ear and as soon as the bass hits it's like they aren't there //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/greedy.gif.5a53e6246569d7ab79867170f3b06629.gif. He has some more in the front in the factory locations on the door but they're almost non existant. He plans on getting another small amp and putting tweeters in the pillars to try to get some more high range.

The bass seriously carries like no other. Sitting inside my house I heard him coming about 20 seconds before he pulled on to my block, with the volume on 12 //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eek.gif.771b7a90cf45cabdc554ff1121c21c4a.gif. I think up to 25 is the distortion free zone. It kinda ***** though, you ride in there and when you hop in to your own car the system sounds stock //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/blow_up.gif.f2a780e8b12ae09e264cb01720b8dca2.gif

It sounds like your friend really put some effort into his stereo. The 12 10s that I have is the loudest system in my area so far. Its kind of cool when I tell people what I have cause they pause for a second and then they say WHAT? 12 10s? The only reason I am going with the 15s is because they are awesome subs but also I will vent the box making it hopfully even louder than the 10s. Your friends system has definately given me confidence that the 15s will be a louder set up. I think I have the same coaxials as him. I have 4 FRC 6x8 3-ways. It looks like he has FRCs as well but of a different size. I bet it sounds good with them right behind your head like that. Mine are just in the doors. Does he have those hooked up to an amp too?

When I get the 15s in my truck I will post them onto the gallery as well. I am hoping it will be done within 2 weeks.

I believe the coaxials are just running off his HU right now, but as soon as he gets the money he wants to get another small amp to run the coaxials + tweeters in the pillars.

The nice thing about that is you don't have to turn it up much to get a ton of bass. His equipment will last forever because you don't have to max it out to get a few ear fulls.
