Pre drilling the hole is ok, but your gonna want a countersinking drill bit so your screws are below the surface of the box, to keep it looking clean.

your right, a table saw is it a pain to use? if i go cheap will it hurt me in the end. thanks guys for your help this morring, i wana feel like i can do this but first i need the right tools lol.

if you dont want to spend the money for a saw, when you go to homedepot to get your wood bring your cut sheet and home depot will cut the would for you. not sure if they still charge for it.. tip go during the day when the ex carptners are there. the ones who know how to use the saw right.. you will have nice sq cuts. becareful bring wood home. if you bang the egeds you will dent them..

that sounds good, but I've heard that Home Depot also won't guarantee that the cuts are exactly what you want. Besides, if you don't want to spend $30 for a saw to build your own box and learn something in the process, then you should just pay someone to do it, or get outta car audio. Just my opinion.

i dont know tif they will guarantee the cuts or not. ive always made my own cuts,extep for have home depot cut a board in half for me to fit in my car, that was a while ago. (for some reason even with a table saw i cant get a strait cut.) but thats why i add in the post to go when there is an ex carpender there some one who knows what there doing

They don't guarantee cuts, but usually it's good to 1/8"... which is about as good as a jigsaw + steady hand.

They charge $0.50 per cut after the first 2. They won't do lattice cuts (cut through multiple pieces). I second the idea of going in the day, and finding a quality wood worker. It makes ALOT of difference in the accuracy of the cuts.
