4 10 inch subs or 2 12 inch subs

You sure you were running it at 2ohms and providing sufficient amounts of power?

That amp shouldnt clip at 2ohms, especially after rise has taken effect.

Maybe you had it at 1ohm by some sake of God????

Find a way to test it at 2ohms again, and turn the gain down a little bit, it doesnt need to be all the way up

And 900 RMS would be good for either occaision

I miss my three Alpine Type E 10's I had sealed on a Memphis 1000d(it blew them to hell and back quite often)

I'd say go with the four sealed tens, my opinion though.

u need some very effiencient subs with that amount of power. The 12s and 10s are both pry gonna be underpowered.
what kind of amp is it. Can u afford another one.

if u cant get another amp, i would go with one 12 in a nice big ported box, should get decently loud and not be underpwoered
O noez!!!! Not teh underpowerz!!!!111 //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

most def @ 2 ohms, 2 svc 4 ohm subs wired in parallel, plus i have a kenwood excelon head unit which has 5 volt pre amp output so the input sensitivity is set at 5V or all the way down for people who don't know about kenwood amps. I even have the bass boost all the way down and it still clips at higher volume. The amp is brand new and i did a search and found that others have had the same problem. I don't have the dough to buy another amp right now and it does fine as long as it stays above 2 ohms continuous so i'm trying to make the best out of what i have that's why i'm going to run subs in series.

From what I'm reading, you want to do 2 12's in a 2.5cuft ported enclosure. I do not

think 2.5 is enough for 2 12's. I think you should buy one really good 12 and put it in

a 2.5 cuft ported enclosure. I agree with the other poster that you should look at your

gains on the amp and run it at 2 ohms again. Also, look at the big 3 thread and try that,

are you running 4 gauge or better to the amp? Hows the airflow around the amp?

Look into the fi Q 12, should work nicely with your amp. You could even do a single alpine

type X or even type R. But the Q is sweet. You should get a dual 4 ohm or dual 1 ohm 12

for a final 2 ohm load. A single sealed 15 would also do well in a 2.2-2.5cuft enclosure.

Depends alot on the woofer...the 10's would likely get louder, but the 12's will get lower. Personally I'd go with the 12's, I love lows
ah, didnt know that.. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/cool.gif.3bcaf8f141236c00f8044d07150e34f7.gif

really wanted a lil bit more sound than one single woofer could probably provide, i've heard single woofer setups in the past and they sound very good for sql but not particularly what i'm looking as far as loudness and versatility. As far as the amp goes, it has a built in cooling fan and it is mounted on the back of my rear seat along with the 4 channel and i always fold the rear seat down when i play the subs so i know the amp is being adequately cooled to my best ability. And yes i have 4 gauge power and ground running to both, stinger pro series to be exact, with an optima yellow top for current, so no, the amps are not starving for power.

2 12's sealed would do fine in 2.5 cuft.Did you do big 3?

look at what this guy is building:

http://www.caraudio.com/forum/showthread.php?t=324336

that will be loud. in 2.5 cubes. i guaruntee.
done the big three and i figured that 2.5 cu ft would be enough sealed, hell that's basically what i'm running now. The 12's that i'm using are great....they get down, it's just that when i go above the volume level of about 26 or 27 the mono block goes in and out of protection, but the amp has never, ever got hot, it just does get lukewarm. Put it like this, u can put the palm of your hands on it and leave them there to give you a good idea of what i mean. Now the 4 ch. that im using for my mids and highs.....that's another story, lol.

12's: 93 db sensitivity

10's: 90 db sensitivity
