higher end h/u's offer more feature's and typically give/allow a more flexible crossover network built in as you won't need internal h/u power. most people that are dropping 350 on a deck are using external amplifiers for all speakers in their car and want the best transport with the highest pre-out voltage. typically more expensive decks have all of what i listed above, and they put those feature's above a higher powered built in amp to the deck. not to mention the more power you put out at the h/u the more chance you have for distortion and other messy things that people don't want.

It depends on how you define "high end." My RF 8250 has no internal amp, no crossovers, etc, but it is MUCH higher end than most(maybe all) decks that have a ton of features in them....atleast by my definition of high end.
