$300mill for new auto battery

I think this is a good thing and a bad thing. I know its something out there, and hopefully this would give somebody a reason to do it. I mean we got 'smart' people here, I think. they could invest 300 million into reasearch too. Dubai is living lavish, As anbody seen the theme park they are building in the desert? Its bananas, I promise you!

There are people out there with greater access to capital than oil companies. You act as if that is the only game in town.....plus $500MM is chump change.
so why then is McCain only offering $300 million??? right, $500 mill is chump change

they may have more capital on paper - but not liquidity wise

First off, nobody on this site is smart enough to say that hyrdogen is or isnt a viable alternative. At least admit you are smart enough to say you really dont know what will or wont work in the future.

Plenty of oil left? for how long? at what price?

The writing is on the wall and I am personally glad we have these gas prices. At 3.00 a gallon, people were just pissed, but it didnt really change the way anyone actually lived. At 4.00 a gallon people are now beyond pissed and it is having a major impact on the way we think and live. Wait till it hits 6.00 a gallon, that will do more than just piss people off. People and GOVT will have to change the way we do business. Alternative energy resources will be at the forefront of every major political issue.

We are not addicted to oil. We simply have no choices. Get us a car that runs off of something else and we will buy it.

How is it that the Brazilians are energy independent? They were so much smarter than us Americans when back in the 70s oil crisis they realized they needed to get off of oil, as our govt sat back and did nothing. Brazil pushed using some form of biofuel that uses sugar cane. Gas is **** cheap for them, but the greatest power in the world is now scrambling to get someone to come up with a new battery???

I was reading in the USA today last week how our electric bills are going to start going sky high. This year alone, many electric companies will raise rates by 20% or more, and that will continue for the foreseeable future.

Well I have a few solar companies coming this week to get some estimates. i will have solar panels in the next 6 months.

Some home builders in Ca are now installing Solar panels on all new homes.... this should be MANDATORY.

When gas hits 6 bucks a gallon what will you do then? Sit and ***** about lack of oil production? LOl

dont you fucking dare call me stupid. bitch.

I'm still concerned about the additional coal burnt to charge up all those extra batteries. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif

Of course, Obama is clueless as well.

they can get almost 200 miles out of an all electric 0-60 in under 4 sec sports car that costs 5 bucks to recharge (takes 3-5 hours to recharge iirc) the plan is running electric with a gas or hydrogen generator to get it to a reasonable distance without leaving people stranded without having to have batteries cost several thousands of dollars. they want it to still need fuel but to get hundreds of miles to the gallon . plus once the "battery" becomes mainstream its price will come down. the issue they are having is they do not want to lose the $ it costs to refuel. with hydrogen there are alloy rocks you can put in tap water leave it set over night with the rocks in it to make hydrogen fuel LOL. the basics of the technologies are known they just want to pick the right one/ones so people still have jobs in those fields..that's my best guess anyway.

and until it does there will be no alternative fuel source PERIOD; again I will say it - there is no incentive for them (oil company's) to introduce a more affordable alternative fuel source when they control the market. They would lose billions upon billions of dollars in revenue, for what $300 million. Some MIT brainiac will discover it and BP will buy it for $500 million and we still won't have an alternative fuel.
what about the discovery of burning salt water...

To an extent I will agree - but our government will not change the way they do business - their hands and pockets are covered in oil!!!!

no body knows dude all we know is that if we drill more we get more, and there is lots left in the ground
all the **** hippiis and serria club people say that it screws up places if we drill there.....even though it doesnt......they are the people keeping the gas at 4.50 a gallon
But at what cost? And I assure you gas will not decline like you say even if we do set up to drill for new oil.

again, nothing educated to say so all you do is throw smiley faces around and say "all these people I'm sitting with are just laughing at you, blah blah blah."
