the 3 chaos 12 will out displace the hdc 18. not to mention the efficency of the 3 12s is greater.. no doubt they will be louder and you will run into less power compression.. i wouldn't be suprized to se a 2db gain on music..

the hd isn't a street beater imo i think its a great spl woofer(at least the alum coil).. you had the V2 alphas?? i didn't care for the v1s but the v2s are nice..

IMHO play around more with your AQ in differant boxes before switching it up. IMO pretty much any quality spl 12 15 18 whatever will sound great if the box is built RIGHT

i've had it in 3 diff. boxes now... 5.5cubes tuned to 38 was the loudest... 34hz was ALMOST as loud, but hit the lower end a little better, not that it didnt do it anyways but...

man I'm so undecided right now.. is 7.6cubes enough for 3 12's??... and if thats a tight fit, i'd rather do the 2 15's, or 3 10's

bump for the AA.. solid woofers, and there going to sound alot better than the hdc...

the 3 AA have 1w1m of 91, your going to have more linear displacement.. the aq has about 190in^2 the 3 12s will be 220.. aq has about 18mm xmam, AAs 21mm..

aq has 273in^3 of displacement,with 1w1m of 89.8...

AA has 369in^3 of DP with a 1w1m of 90.9...

so with any give power the AAs will be 1DB louder, now after 2500 or so the aqs efficiency will fall off, and the more power you send the AAs the more the AAs will pull away.. seeing your perference i would do 6 cubes tuned to 38.. try to get as much port area as possible with out going under 6.25 after port.. also stuffing the bow with polyfill wouldn't be a bad idea... 4 pounds is enough...

100in^2 sould be plenty... keep the ports distance equal between the woofers linear..
