3 Type R's, Power Acoustik a3000db, Little room...

Ok, here's the situation. Brother has 3 12" Type R Dual 2ohm Subwoofers. He will be wiring them to a 1.34ohm load and powering them with a Power Acoustik a3000db giving each sub approx. 700rms. Only issue is, his car has a small trunk. He had a small ported enclosure w/ 2 L7s and the lack of room killed his left sub (not to mention the 1150rms each lol). Anyways, we were originally thinking ported, but only way that would work would to be giving each sub only around 1.2 cubic feet? Is this a waste? and too small for them?

Should we just build a good sealed enclosure?

the small space would actually allow it to take more power mechanically, but he thermally failed it either by too much power like you said or he was clipping it to death

i think type r's dont like sealed as much

i believe 2 lesser size subs in good space> cramming bigger subs in small areas

Brother is set on using the 3 because they are dual 2ohm. Doesnt wanna wire them below one or at 2.667. What you guys think?

I have to say i wouldn't want my R's in 1.2 cu ft each i would give them at least 2 each i'm giving mine roughly 2.6 each in my new box and they love it you just have to be careful with the gains. why not use all your space ported for 1 nice 15 that can take all the power?
