i just got my buddy a type r cause his p3 took a shit on him. well right now its sitting in a shitass q-logic box. im gonna build him a huge ported box as soon as i get some time. i just wanna know whats the best frequency to tune the box to? and any suggestions on box size? he isnt really into insane SPL, he wants some nice bass but wants it to sound good to. Yep, if he has the room do 2.5 @ 30-34hz

Look on the box plans link that is stickied for design details.

IMO 2.5 is better then 2.0

Yehhh tune it lowww....they like them lower than normal.

I had my 15 at 32hz and it was nuts than i put it in a 30hz and it was like night and day.......good luck.

nah. i have built many boxes for the R. 34 is the best for spl and sq, if you loook at winisd you will gain a couple db's tuning from like 30 to 34.

and as far as port area. mine one 12'' type R has 52 or 56 sq inches of area, forgot which, in 3 cubes, but its loving it.

isnt port area proportional to tuning frequency?
