3 JL12W6v2 Enclosure

Currently I am using a prefab with 1.26 cubes each sub separated. Was thinking to going to ported for more SPL. Anyways, talked to a local installer, told me he would build a ported enclosure with 2.25 cubes each tuned to around 33 Hz, but says box is going to run me around $400. Is that a little high? Tells me should raise +3db which is about 2x louder to the ear. Is everything he is telling me right? Any suggestions is appreciated. Car and system is in siggy.

the 3 db rise is generally true, from what I've heard. As for $400, that's excessive to me. You can have someone design and build a great one here and have it shipped to you for less money than that.

whoa $400. thats way too much. i bet someone in here can make an enclosure you that will get louder than +3db, for cheaper too.

I too think that is a bit excessive, that's why I was asking. What I was looking for is an enclosure that will be built into my trunk w/ room for an amp rack and battery space, but something that would be car show worthy. Any quotes?

I just bought a box for my 3 JL 12's ported for $165...its the best ported box they make...i have the 3 subs in a row with port on the bottom cause i have no room for port on sides or middle...i have 37"s to work with 3 subs thats 36"s its tight fit..but the box i have now is 36 1/2 inches wide so i guess it will work..thanks
