3/4 gain

I set my gains today and I had to get to 40 volts. I have a 400 watt sub pushing a 4 ohm sub. The sub is a MTX 7500 and my amp is a MXA4002. When I set my gains it took 3/4 to get 40. Is this bad? Thanks.

well if you did the math right then no thats not bad , but mayby gettin a line driver to up the pre-out volt's ?

will it be hard on the amp at 3/4? Is it my headunit that's making it require so much gain?
