trying to put some new speakers in my sons 96 Mustang GT and im stumpped. I was on a Mustang forum and they sdaid the factory Mach460 amps are running 2ohm speakers and you cant add aftermarket 4ohm speakers and expect it to sound worth a crap....is this true?

I mean, if i have to use 2ohm because thats what matchs the factory amps i will, just want to be sure before i make a purchase

I don't think so. I had the Mach system in my '98 and my speakers were 4-ohm.

But the resistance shouldn't effect the sound. If it is 2-ohm, and you put in 4-ohm speakers, it just won't get as loud.

However, if you take out the speaker, all Ford Speakers will tell you the nominal watts and the resistance of the driver. So, you can just check real quick. Mustang Doors come out pretty easily.

yea, i have an 05 mustang and the whole door panel comes off to get to the speaker, just not for sure on his 96. Never thought about looking at one that is in there LOL
