2ohm, 4 ohm, and 8ohm subs

Ok, so I dont know a lot about impedence, so help me out here. My situation for example is as follows. I have a 2 sub probox for my truck, it came with one sub already, a JL 10w3v2 - 2 ohm. Naturally I wanted to get a matching sub, but I have found some good deals on other JL subs(pairs), many of which are different impedences.. What is the difference between running 2ohm, 4ohm, 8 ohm, etc.

My guess was that it allows you to wire them to the right impedence for your amps, to be sure you arent going over the impedence limit of the amp..

Hope I dont get flamed for this,

you can run different ohm subs, its just that its a little more confusing for the average person trying to figure out what the ohm load will be in the end. as long as your amp can handle it, it will work just fine.

If you can avoid it, don't run two or more subs in series, it will sound bad and cost you some output. Also DO NOT mix different impedance subs, one will get more power than the other and you will end up with cancellation and crappy sound.
2 subs in series = same efficiency in dB/w and 2x power handling, just you have a higher impedance.... It won't sound bad...

I wouldn't run 3 subs though... Stick with 2 or 4... or pick up another amp... You don’t want one of the 3 subs to be bottoming out before the other 2 do...
