2k To blow on a full system minus HU

Okay, well car: BMW 1999 318Ti or 528i 1997-2000 still deciding, I don't really plan on using the trunk at all so whole trunk is for use. Wont be buying my parts from the dealers direct, just new unopened boxes off ebay, save some money get better stuff. $2000 does not include the HU. Would it be better to get one loud sub or a few smaller subs and get a bigger bang for your buck?

I'd say all else equal fewer/better subs > more cheaper. That being said you'll still need to consider how much space you have (including the shape) of your trunk and what it is you are trying to accomplish.
