2200-2500w RMS.....One YT G31 be sufficient?

ok. because in that diagram, the ground is all the way from the front to the second battery in the trunk. i dont like the idea of that wire being that long. So, i think i will try one battery under the hood first, and see how it goes. if i have problems, i will run the second battery to the trunk, grounding in the trunk, same as the amps.

i read in another thread that you can't connect an acid battery like most regular batteries, and my exide, to an agm, or gel battery like an optima. anyone heard about this?

Never heard that before. When I first got my Jeep I installed a Yellow Top in the rear and hooked it up to the stock wet cell batt and ran it for months without a problem; until I got a second Yellow Top.

Im running like this too, so is kenny pollock.

I am running all Optima YTs. I have a 34 under the hood and two 31s in the rear on a stock alternator with an IA 20.1. Plenty of current and no problems. Also, it's a good idea to fuse any wire coming off the battery as close as possible to the battery itself.

I have only 2 questions left.

1) is it ok to ground the second battery in the trunk, or should i run the ground from battery to battery in a daisy chain? note: i know this was answered once already in this thread, but i want to clarify.

2) I will be using a distro block from the second battery. basically, second battery---distro block---two amplifiers. I need to fuse the power wire between the distro block and the amplifier, or are distro blocks internally fused?

i've got another question too, going to hook up the second one today and possibly buy another YT. would it be better to have the stock exide in the front and dual 31 series YT's in the rear, or to have a 34 under the hood with one 31 in the rear?

i also was wondering the same thing as him, but i have 20 feet of black 1/0 from welding supply, my only problem will be stuffing dual 1/0 runs under my carpet. the single 1/0 for 12v already makes a good bulge, i won't be able to hide them well until i take the whole thing apart for the deadening project i'm going to dive into next week. drilling a hole that large in the firewall for the grommet is a PITA too, but that's probably what i'm going to do today.

anyone know where to get those box mount things to neatly store a g31a? been searching google for optima yellow top 31 mount and not coming up with anything. i know i've seen em but cant remember where.

You should be fine just grounding the 2nd battery in the trunk. It is alwaya a good idea to fuse every wire from the batt. I have a fuse uner the hood from the 1st batt. Then a fuse on the same wire where it attaches to the 2nd batt. then the wire between the 2nd and 3rd is fused and the wire to the amps are fused. I know it sounds like alot but it is the safest way and you can never be too safe. You may run your wires where you think it would never short but if you have an accident, you don't want your batts causing a fire. Hope this helps.

I am no expert but AKAIK and in my experience, you will be fine with Exide up front as long as it is in good condition when you add the Optimas. Just remeber that every batt you add is more of a strain on your alternator. Depending on the power you are running, the 34 and one 31 may be more than enough. The 31 is a strong batt. One run of 1/0 to the back batt should be fine unless you a hardcore competitor and am trying to get almost no voltage drop. Lastly, I think the mount you need can be found here.

sweet, thanks man. a 240a iraggi amputator with the overdrive pulley should be plenty to charge 3 batteries right? big 3 is all in 1/0, but its grounded to the body not the frame.
