2025 f150 supercrew build?

Their response:
"The Meso / Stratos (?) 8 is more for loud noise, and people looking for cheap bass.
They are full of sheetmetal. I have been dailying an 8" Tropo as a direct replacement in a Bazooka bass tube. It has been about a month and I am well pleased with it. The bass tube is ~0.5³ft and 12²in x 17" port. I have played many genres and the response in clean and bassy. You can hear it clear while working outside the truck. It has a lower center than the original sub but my 6.5s pick up that slack easily. Only con in this mix is the port noise on boom tracks due to the uneven fit of the trim ring over the port. Not the sub's fault.

For my F150, I only ran one 10" sub, in a sealed box, and it sounded really good. It was a L7T. Another guy heard it and bought it off me. I just went and bought another sub, but now I have to build another box.

It slanted to the driver's side a little. It looked a little like the drawing below, but it didn't slant that much. I had the 1/4 masonite, on the top, for the sub to fire into. Therefore, the seat would not absorb any of the bass.

Truth be told, about bass, forward facing subs don't sound as loud as subs that bounce off a surface. with forward facing subs, the majority of the sound you hear is from the port. Firing a sub up or down against a hard surface will give you more sound than forward facing subs. A bigger sub will give you smoother and deeper bass. If your wife listens to rock music, then the 8's will work fine. Rap, EDM, and Hiphop will sound better with a larger sub.
What he said.

Right now I think im going to pass on the forward firing mega 8's even though it sounds so cool to be if they truly sound amazing & sound like much larger subs than they actually are....
Still spinning in my head....

Guys over at DIY audio, bunch of them have the MTI acoustic box for their F150's & according to the owner Jim Skaggs, they pump out about 300 a month....
Box wouldnt have the gay storage cubby...
$545 for stage 1 in carpet or stage 2 in catskin $650 just for the box, costly
Then I need to decide on some shallow subs.
He recommends old faithful 12" TW3....
Jim also said most go sealed to avoid seat lift.

Then theres the 10" ported 35hz Fox Box, surprisingly from my DD, heard great things on this option too..
But can use full size 10's
Guys over at fox recommend the SA classics, but theyre also claiming not a huge difference between the SA's & theyre more budget friendly option:
Trinity Audio E-10" subs $170ea

Soundskin dual downfire 12" sealed $450
Their ported option is @ 38hz

& then.....
Never owned a kicker...
heard they slap & sound larger than they actually are, but.....:cautious:
Dont know if I can do it...
Soundskin box also has the option to accommodate the solo baric kicker...

I don't know, always thought they were kind of square...

I'd probably go sealed, but I prefer a flatter sound. If there is set-up, that's popular on diy audio, then that's a good sign.
I do sealed as well. The key, as is always the case, right driver, right box, for the right sound. Just did a Wavetec 12" in a 1.6 cu ft box, F250, tuned to around 30-32 hz, very impressive output.

Personally, my dual Focal 33V2's, in a very stout 3.44 cu ft sealed/stuffed box, sublime!

I don't know, always thought they were kind of square...
Right, Im sure they sound good...
Just seems like all the teenagers run kicker, atleast in my mind.
But I know they slam, in a downfire, nobody will ever see them..... 😁
Shit im contemplating cheaping out on skarr or ct subs....

Anyone in need of a great little 1.2k monoblock?

Mine's on the way, and they are a steal at $125.00!

So are the Rainbow bridgable 4-channel and two-channel units - got a couple of them coming too!

In cart price - $112.50 itty-bitty 4 ch

In cart price - $75.00, 2 x 90, 1x 240 bridged teeny tiny 2-ch!

These are German-designed, made in Korea mighty-mights!

Audio Intensity for the win!

So MTI Acoustics builds custom "pre-fab" both front fire & down / up fire boxes specific to fords & other popular platforms.
His response to my questions, after getting mixed opinions between the 2 box variances / options...
Think this help solidify the direction I should proceed with.

Thank you for reaching out.
Dual 12" for sure.
More sealed, due to airspace.
Downfire offers more overall output/impact over the upfire, when comparing identical gear.
We average over 300 enclosures monthly for the last 10 years, more than 80% of the dual 12" are the JL Audio 12TW3.

The variances between Stages are purely aesthetics.
The maximum depth can change slightly depending on subwoofer used. Due to backplate, pole vent, motor diameter, etc.
As a JL dealer since 2003 and Hertz dealer since 2009, I can tell you Hertz did a great job of nearly duplicating the TW3 line. Is there a clear difference between the two, no. Would 99.99% of the population be able to tell them apart in a blind A/B test in the same vehicle on same power in a proper enclosure? No.
Front facing is my least favorite of all, the woofers tend to unload, yet you get to hear a lot of woofer noise...windy as some would say. That does not translate to sound quality in any way.
My F150 will NEVER sound like my Excursion with (4) 18" Hybrid Audio Legatia drivers on 5k, yet the most impressive of hundreds of setups tested in my F150 WITHOUT a lift, (3) JL 10TW3 downfire sealed.

Jim Skaggs

Yep. Biggest you can fit, downfiring, agreed.
You guys are twisting my arm into 2 12's.....
As stated, the MTI box over on the other forum has a great reputation / following, etc...
but so does the Fox box...
wonder how 2 sealed 12's would compare to 2 ported 10's....

I can do the MTI box but more money, then more money for the 12" JL's or whatever sub over the 10"....
Also the design of the fox box, will take full size non shallow subs as it has a 6.25" mounting depth with a 7" magnet.

In general characteristically sound quality & performance is better at lower volume using a sealed over ported, or amI mistaken?
Meaning a sealed box will hit harder at lower volume over a ported box?

I think what gets lost in all of the box-type talk is that either of them done correctly, net quality results. I prefer a larger driver in a stuffed, correctly sized sealed, smaller or same size box, as what is needed in the smaller driver in a ported box, especially if downfiring under a seat, given that you know the limitations of the box size you can use.

There is no arguing the sound quality of a good stuffed/sealed large driver setup; it just sounds very good. No real port-loading anomalies from having to vent the openings in less-than-optimal locations, etc.

100% correctly sized, sealed/stuffed over a compromised ported enclosure that is smaller than optimal. I won't say all, but a good many subs on the market advertise/recommend ported boxes that are still a bit small and peaky, in my opinion.
