2014 Hyundai Elantra amplifier install

Does anyone have any idea how and where to get through the firewall so that I can run the power lead to the battery? Thank you in advance for any help that you can provide!

Try hitting up an all Elantra forum. They usually have pretty good info on that kind of stuff in the electronics sections on the dedicated car forums.

I have the exact same car as you. There are some rubber plugs, but you can also just drill your own hole and then seal it up with some hot glue. Make sure the hole is almost the exact size as your wire.

Rather than glue, I'd recommend a grommet. The hole in the firewall will need to be determined by the grommet size, but I think a grommet is much safer in terms of not shorting out due to vibration.

correct, anytime wiring passes through metal, you need a grommet to insulate the wire from metal. the wire insulation is too soft and not suitable by itself to protect from shorting.

a firewall short can be a fire hazard or shut the car down while driving - posing a safety issue.

Same car I drilled into a plastic cover that also has a rubber grommet. Its above the pedals towards the break use a flash light to see the wires going out.
