2003 Mustang Cobra electrical issues

I just installed a system in my car, consisting of a Cadence A7HC and a JL 300/1. Im having dimming problems currently, have 1/0 run to the back, batt to chassis 1/0. My question is about the alternator wire upgrade. It seems the alt wire goes to some sort of fuse distrubution box. To upgrade the wire do I just go straight from the alt to batt pos? Hoping some people on here have mustangs and can help out. I have heard the alts on these things ****, it currently has like an 2 1/2 in alt pulley, which with the size of the crank pulley and supercharger pulley is already overspinning at 6000rpm. So I wonder if a HO alt will help me much having to use that big of a pulley. Any help would be great.

Thanks

Chuck Eanes

You get dimming from only 300w? ****.

Supercharged ftw //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

a HO alt would probably help yeah. See if you can fit any bigger wire from the bat to the fuse box, and fuse box to alt. And if you cant, you could always run some 1/0 from the bat to the alt, and fuse inbetween

The Cadence amp he posted that he's running is rated @ 1400w @ 1 Ohm //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

He's running a bit more than 300w //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Well not exactly 300 watts. The A7HC is putting out like 1400 to the subs and the JL is 300. So im thinking this might be a decent strain on the charging system. Car has a ton of electrical stuff as well. Maybe there are a few cobra owners on here.

Thanks

Chuck

Negative.

You don't have to follow the stock wire to complete the Big 3 upgrade. Put a 1/0awg wire (with a fuse) from the Alternator Positive to the Battery Positive. You could also think about upgrading the battery to something a bit beafier than stock.

I already have an Optima Yellow top D34. Im thinking its mostly the stock wire on the alt is like 8ga, and my stock alt just sucks.

Thanks

As posted before, run an additional 1/0 from alt. positive to batt. positive, as well as a motor to chasis ground. Most people use an alternator mounting bracket bolt as the motor connection.

Try that and if you don't see the dimming go away, than you will need to get an HO alternator...
