2003 Mazda 6s Build Log!

finally some pics lolz looking good
Haha well I hadn't actually started. And I'm changing the temporary HU I have now for an Alpine 9887, will probably pick it up from the local shop today.

Expect to see the kenwood on here for sale pretty soon //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

But yeah, bad news: I made a fake box out of cardboard and it didn't work at all. Trunk opening didn't want to let it through. So I guess 34Wx20Lx18H isn't going to work.

Need to figure something else out...

Or, build the box in the trunk //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crying.gif.ec0ebefe590df0251476573bc49e46d8.gif

Ordered a PowerMaster d3100 and a d1200 from Jegs, should ship out today. Any idea how long their free shipping takes? It was either free shipping or $697 for next day. No thank you, that costs more then my entire order. Haha //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif

Check out my build log for some tips and ideas. If you have to go this route I have some very useful information for you.

Got my Alpine 9887 In today! Already installed, pics up in a few //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif

This HU seems great, lots of options and a nice faceplate case. Hopefully I got all the wires correct, I won't know as I have no battery in the car though //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif.

Thanks for the tip Mikey, I'll be sure to check it out if I have to build in trunk. I really really really hope I don't though. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

Well, progress today was not photo worthy, just ran speaker wires from doors to where the amp will be (under the passenger seat).

Tomorrow is another day! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif

Weather looked like it was going to rain today, so didn't start till about 2-3pm, then some friends came by so I couldn't work anymore until like 6pm. Sun went down at 8:30ish and that's when I finished.

I never knew soldering in the car would be so fun! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif:D:D Car full of solder smoke FTW.

Well, it's not really audio related but part of my build none the less. Yep, I'm talking about my HID kit. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I got everything in except I can't mount the ballasts, I need to wait for my mom to get home to head down to the store and pickup metal screws that'll fit the ballast holes since my car is FAR from street ready at the moment. Hahaha!

Anyways, I also need to pickup some Injen air filter cleaner and oil, since I took off my whole front end anyways might as well clean the filter. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif

Will put up picks of my car looking fucked up in a few minutes.

Also got my batteries in, and my jigsaw so I'm going to see if my buddy lets me use his pickup or takes me to buy the wood today/tomorrow to get going on the baffles and box. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

That's all for now!

Well, just got done cutting out all the would, do you guys think I should double baffle any of the sections? For now I haven't. I also plan on putting 45 degree pieces in the corners, but those will be cut later on.

Not gonna provide pictures yet as we've all seen cut up MDF, I'm off to go sand. T_T

Well guys, all is finished up. finished about a week already, just havn't updated the log as there was little interest. I think I'm going to try a different box tuned lower as the lows from this box don't really satisfy me.

I've got a couple pics of it all and a few vids coming up, the vids aren't too great though. I'm new to recording moofaz.

Still setting gains and crossovers and such, and need to bolt the amp down but I killed my drill trying to drill holes in the chassis. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif
