I have a 2001 Pathfinder and want to put a JL Audio Stealth in it. I dont really want to change anything else though. Not now anyways, because I just got it, and will need to save some $$. I have an Alpine amp, not sure the model, but I know itll push one 10' with no problem. My question is will I be able to add the sub to the Bose system, and still be able to use the existing Bose speakers and HU? The Bose I have has a remote on the wheel, and a 6 disc in dash changer.

If I can do this, is it also possible for me to hook up another amp for the door speakers, instead of whatever it currently uses (if it uses one)?

Thanks everyone...

To hook up a subwoofer amp to your existing stereo your need a Hi-Low level converter like this one http://www.cmttrading.com/computer/ITEM11434.HTML Now adding a stereo to a BOSE system can be difficult, especially since you want to add new speakers. The ohmage from the Head Unit is something like .5 or 1ohm. Which is way different from the standard 4ohm that most of today’s speakers have. So you can add a sub, you might be able to add an amp for the speakers, but you also might have to add a new HU...

Adding to a Bose system can be a nightmare if not done correctly. To add a sub to it you will need a level converter but not one like the boss that was shown, you'll need to purchase one that was designed to work with the Bose configuration, like the ones made by Soundgate, they are more expensive but they handle the signal and voltage oddities of the Bose. As far as adding another amp to the factory speakers, forget it, the Bose speakers themselves are the ones that have the low ohm ratings (between .5 and 1 ohm) not the signal coming from the head unit. Another thing with Bose speakers is that in most cases each speaker has its own dedicated amp attached to the back of the speaker inside it's own enclosure for door mounted ones and the amp is on the bottom of rear shelf speakers. Just a little fyi //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif
