RMS is how much it'll put out, that's all you need to knowokay, my cousin just gave me a type x and it hits fairly hard with that amp.. soo out of the 1200 watts max power, only 500 watts goes into this sub? i dont understand what rms is

rms ratings are what you need to focus on. forget the max and forget whomever told you to look at them. to match speakers and amps you need to look at the rms ratings. that amp will only produce 200 usable watts/channelwell it says max power: 1200w (2ohms).. and i have 1 type x (4ohm + 4ohm) hooked up like this http://www.rockfordfosgate.com/rftech/woofer_wizard.asp?submitted=true&woofer_qty=1&woofer_imp=4 does this mean i will get the whole 1200 watts goin into this sub?
