In my last truck just hiding a run of 6AWG was hard with how tight the internal panels were. I'm getting ready to install a system in a 96 buick lesabre, I don't think the firewall will have a big enough hole for 2 runs of 2/0 or even 1/0. If I went with well shielded 2/0 welding cable could I run along the bottom of the car? or am I asking for a spark filled disaster. :|

you'll be fine under the car, i see people do it all the time...

in my last car i just drilled a bigger hole through the firewall with a uni-bit... i was lucky in my new truck though, had a big ol' gaping hole, fit four 1/0 through //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

iirc, that car does not have much on the bottom for routing, and protection. might not be much of a problem where you are at. crawl under it and look at how much scraping there is. up here, they all have tons, and that normally doesn't include anything snow-realted. the carpet should be well insulated, and the seat should be easy to pull up on the passenger side, which will help you rout easily. also, yopu will have to contend with getting around the exhaust, which might make the big bend from the middle to the right, around the gas tank. you should be able to get through the lower part of the firewall ok, and the back seat is super easy to pull. i can walk you through it if need-be. if you make your own holes, use rubber grommets you can find at the local hardware store.

Getting it through the firewall shouldn't be to bad, il make holes if need be. But the big deal is trying to hide the wires all the way to the trunk..

once you have the passenger seat unbolted, ant the side trim, then you can run it different ways under the carpet, even might be able to run one by/in the harness retainers on the side, and one in the crevice by the hump the carpets in those things are pretty malleable..

check out my build, i'm working on a 2001 lesabre and did 2 runs of 1/0 from alt to back.

i just drilled holes in the floor panel on the passenger side and ran the two runs up there, then ran them back along the length of the car. There's so much padding under the carpeting that you cant tell they are there unless you try really hard.
