2 ohm component sets

Older Soundstream and some Image Dynamics sets were available in 2 ohm. Juicyrobot on eBay sells some pieced together component sets from premium parts that are 2 ohm.

I researched this a lot when i was looking but decided against the 2-ohm due to a limited selection. Why do you need 2-ohms?

I remember the Soundstreams.....but I have not heard a pair in 10 years or so. 2ohm comps are nice it the fact you can use a small 2 channel amp and get plenty of power, but their limited selection makes them not worth it IMO.

You can buy 8 ohm raw midbass drivers from Parts Express or Madisound just hook them in parallel. I guess the bottom line is what are you trying to accomplish or achieve by doing this?

I have a Nissan 350z. I am trying to find a set up for my front stage and rear fill. I am only looikng to spend no more than $500 for a set of 6 1/2" components up front and 6 1/2" midbass for the rear. i also wasnt sure the best way to run it. Either a 4 channel amp or a two 2 channel amps but i didnt want the whole setup to cost more than $500. Any suggestions?

For a good baseline starting point, get 6.5" comps up front, ditch the rears, and get a small sub in a sealed enclosure. You can find some great deals on some equipment in the for sale section as well as discount retailers such as onlinecarstereo.com, sonicelectronix.com, hifisoundconnection.com, and millionbuy.com 2 ohm comps are not a must have to achieve a great sounding system.

Hmm, you don't really need 2ohm components to achieve this. No need to limit yourself.

2ohm comps. won't be any better than 4 or 8ohm sets since the lower impedance results in a lower sensitivity also
