2 ohm component sets

I'm assuming that he wants to get the most out of his amps and put the most power to the comp. set. But it won't make any difference since 2ohm comps will have lower sensitivity than its 4ohm counterparts. Therefore it's perfectly fine to use 4ohm comps. instead of going to 2ohms. Won't make any difference

that is exactly what i mean //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

OK, If I understand correctly you are saying my 2ohm comps at 93db and an 8ohm set at 87 db are equal? I think I am misunderstanding your thoughts.

i am willing to ditch the rears. the car is tiny anyway. i will be running a pair of tens in a small sealed enclosure for my sub stage. i currently have JL 6.5 TR coaxials up front and the rear. now that i have done research, i realize thats not the correct way. i have an eclipse avn5510 head unit with a built in 5 band parametric equalizer. should i run a 4 channel amp (each channel to each separate mid and tweeter)? is 60-75 watts x 4 sufficient and would i need a serparate eq? any suggestions on a 4 channel amp fr my application? the amp dimnsions cant be larger than 13" - 14" wide and 12" deep cuz of small area to place amp. thanks in advance!

assuming you double the power for half the impedance, a speaker thats 8 ohm will sound no different (spl) than one thats 2 ohm (assuming all things other than impedance constant)

i understand t/s parameters change with different windings..

an 8 ohm driver is quite a bit more effecient than a 2 ohm speaker, because the wire is smaller, you can fit more windings into the effective BL area..

that's what dragnix was saying in his earlier post. so why are you limiting yourself to 2 ohm comps?

No, what i simply mean is that for comparable drivers, the impedance won't matter much as the sensitivity will make up for that. Though the link will explain that much better than I ever can.

Gotcha! Makes sense to me now.
