2 Amps Driving (1) 4 ohm DVC sub @ 2 ohm?

Is it possible to drive a 4 ohm DVC subwoofer at 2 ohms with two identical amps? I have an Alpine MRP-M350. Driving each voice coil with a seperate amp is pointless given this model amp is 350 W RMS at 2 ohm and 200 W RMS at 4 ohm. It would only gain an additional 50 watts while driving each voice coil seperately. Looks like I should have got the 2 ohm DVC instead...or a bigger amp to start with!

How damaging is it to connect the output of two amps together? I suspect it might be bad, but I'm really clueless!

Mustang...all Alpine...

CDA-9853 (Slide Bar HU)

SPR-57LS (60 W RMS 5x7 Components)

SPS-570A (40 W RMS 5X7 2-way)

MRP-M350 (350 W RMS Mono @ 2 ohm)

SWR-1241D (Dual 4 ohm)

Enclosure (??????????) Probably 2 cube vented

No as in you cannot bridge two of those amps into a single load.

Yep...I should have got a bigger amp initially.

Thanks! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

As well as exceedingly difficult to set up properly. It is technically possible but not particularly advisable.

A higher-output amp would have helped, certainly, but assuming that the amp you have will be the one that gets used a Dual 2-ohm VC sub would not have been of any help either. A Dual 4-ohm sub can be connected at either 8 ohms or 2 ohms (where your amp is still stable) A Dual 2-ohm sub can be connected at 4 ohms, where your amp's output is lower, or at 1 ohm where your amp isn't stable. With that amp, you're better off with the Dual 4-ohm sub.

Don't. Just don't. Lol! I'd wager you wouldn't appreciate the end result of trying this...

Hahaha //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif ... I got the Best Buy warranty I want to find out //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif I bought that amp there pretty cheap and got the warranty, so I hate to not use it. I learned too late that they can be purchased much, much, cheaper off of Ebay! At any rate maybe I'll just let this one run at full output since it does have that big fancy four year warranty!

Prowler, that amp could have been connected to one voice coil of a 2 ohm DVC right with an identical amp on the other voice coil, but your simply saying that still isn't the ideal setup?

I'm wagering that with a TCAB box, this amp will still produce somewhat pleasing lows? I need to go ahead and order one! The type-r components powered by just the HU already make the doors vibrate noisily...I'm sure it wouldn't take much power to the sub to add some noisy vibrations back there also! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
