so far this thread has remained pretty evenly spread but i just got 2 12" CVR's that are sealed under the back seat in my ext. cab and they hit, they're getting roughly 700w to each sub and believe me, these subs are made to handle a lot of power...on the real deep bass lines my headlights will completely dim down because of how much power...good luck to you on your descision and i'd consider all options before deciding...as stated above the CVX's would be a good comparison to the type r's...

I would say go with the Type-R, but I'm not a big fan of kicker!

I heard two 12" type-Rs hit a 145.6 and a DB drag, so they are by no means weak!!

Type-R's!!!!! Cant wait till i can satisfy my R's craving for powa, but hell ive already broken the rear veiw mirror off and some of the windshield glass as well.

Well its like i said... I never heard either of these subs in particular... I just heard a pair of type S 12s in a portedbut and they were keeping up with my friends 12w7. of course the w7 sounded a lil bit louder. That's why I wanted the 13w7 but gonna have to wait on that. I'm already ordering the 1000/1 I just want something for right now and who knows... I might put the type Rs against my cousin's 12w7 and see what they do and I might keep'em.... oh and yea I hear the CVRs pound too so I mean, like the one guy in the red ranger, yea I know he has 15s but hey... If someone could talk me into which ever one to get... I'll go for it!

I have had both and in my opinion the CVR's get just as loud as Type R's but the Type R's sound alot better.

But like someone else said if your goin to put them into a big ported box get the type r's but if your looking for compact then go with the cvrs....i know mine sound great sealed.

JL is all about SQ, so its not to hard to hit higher numbers than a W7. Although they are some nice woofers! Here is an idea, dish the type-rs, dish the kicker, get a couple of soundstream tarantulas and blow them both out of the water!!
