2 - 400W RMS subs = 800W RMS amp?

Sorry about that, they are dual 4 ohm, so my only options are 1ohm and 4ohm amps, I have no problem at all buying used from someone here I'l start looking //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif btw that kit looks very nice, I know my current 6 gauge is maxed out. BTW about the big 3, id love to due to serious headlight dimming (even with current crap amp) but this system will be in a friends truck, even tho I own it... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif
Well I'd keep an eye out for something that does 600-800w @4ohms then, or 1200-1400 @ 1ohm. You're probably going to want to upgrade from those subs in the future, so I'd be looking for an amp that does your future desired power, at 1ohm. Something like an SAZ-1500 does 1500 at 1 ohm, and 400 at 4 ohms. Now, Sundown amps are well known for being underrated, and I wouldn't be surprised if it was doing closer to 600w at 4 ohms, if not more. Just something to think about... But Sundown tends to have pricey amps haha, even used.

Another amp I would recommend is the one I use (not for sale), the Elemental Designs 9.1. Rated for 450w at 4ohms, and 1200w at 1ohms, all rated at 12 volts, and well known to be underrated. I think there are a couple for sale on here though, I even saw one for $200 bnib, good deal.

If you really wanna save money, you can look into Audiopipe amps. They are cheap budget amps, known to do rated power, and get the job done. They are ugly as hell, and arguably cheaply made; but most of the members here will agree, if you're on a really tight budget, that's the one to go for.

EDIT: CRAZY good deal on an SAZ-1500: http://www.caraudioclassifieds.org/forum/sundown-audio/103349-12-sundown-saz1500s-sale.html

And here's some clamp results from what Jacob got testing his line of amps: http://www.caraudioclassifieds.org/forum/sundown-audio/14017-sundown-amp-clamp-tests.html

YES, that's 1970 clean watts at 12.85v. I'm sure it will do plenty of power at 4 ohms for you, and a ton of power at 1 ohms for a future set-up //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

As for your vehicle situation.... the system is yours, but you have it in your buddy's truck? Not really a problem. The BIG 3 doesn't modify his car in any way, only adds to it a little, certainly no chance of harm. And, you can take it off and take it with you when you get a car. http://www.caraudio.com/forums/electrical-wiring-classifieds/527067-fs-3-12ft-runs-db-knu-1-0-a.html

There's a good deal, one of those runs is enough to get it done on your buddy's truck, maybe even enough to get it done on 2 cars. Great deal.
