Title says it all, I bought them from a friend running on a 500W RMS Xplod. The amp is garbage so I want to upgrade. Can I hook them up to a 800W RMS amp with out to much risk of blowing them? Or do I not know how to subwoofer //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

EDIT:

Need help looking for mono 1000W RMS @ 1ohm new or used doesn't matter. ~$200

What subs are they? Just because a sub is stamped with numbers does not mean that is what it will actually take.
Dual Voice Coil EarthQuake DBX12's they say 800W on the base so i assumed with two voice coils the rms is 400W :|

Or do I not know how to subwoofer
This made my laugh.

Also, I say this to everyone newer than me on here, but make sure you learn how to set the gains properly or you be running way under power or burning stuff up. Make sure the amp you buy actually does rated as well, or you will be clipping your way to a pair of buggered subs.

Anyone feeling like pointing me to a good 800RMS mono D? Il be honest I don't know AMP brands very well at all. I love sundown, but I don't think I need all the juice for these. BTW these are 4ohm voice coils

Come back and let us know how you like those Earthquake subs. I've been wondering about them.
The DBX subs seem to be older models, I can't find them new anywhere and I bought them from a coworker. So I really can't say how Earthquakes new stuff is, but to give you an example, these subs broke my box at half power.

I'd stay away from Kenwood. If you're not against buying used, Find a good deal on amp in the classifieds, shouldn't be hard. I'd go for 1000w @ 1ohm, or 2ohms depending on what the voice coils are on your sub, which we'll need to find a proper amp. and then be gentle with the gains. And here's a good budget amp kit if you need the whole thing: 4 gauge amplifier installation kit

or if you just need 4 gauge wire, you can buy it by the foot there. quality wire and good prices. I'd also recommend about 8 feet of 1/0 power wire to do the BIG 3 upgrade, which will help when you get your new more powerful amp, and in the future when you upgrade.

Sorry about that, they are dual 4 ohm, so my only options are 1ohm and 4ohm amps, I have no problem at all buying used from someone here I'l start looking //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif btw that kit looks very nice, I know my current 6 gauge is maxed out. BTW about the big 3, id love to due to serious headlight dimming (even with current crap amp) but this system will be in a friends truck, even tho I own it... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif
