2 12" L7's Space?

Ok i searched around and it seems that the l7's prefer alot of airspace in order to be ported. Im building my friends box, with 2 12"s in them. Its going to be going into a Carola with max demensions of 33x13x16.

Do you think that the box should be ported or sealed?

Would the ported box get loud, But just sound crappy?

He has ~3.98^ft GROSS, That is not enough for 2 12" L7s ported. And I heard L7s DONT like sealed boxes.

well the subs are already bought. i think im just going to port the box.what should i tune it at and how much port area with 3.98cu?

they will not sound all that great in that amount of volume... Actually 1 of the drivers in the correct box with perform much better then 2 "choked" drivers.

I have done many of tests with these drivers and 3.25 cu/ft @ 34Hz per driver is the sweat spot I have found.

Also, if you want anywhere near the correct amount of port volume for a 1 sub ported enclosure the best your going to do is 2.35 cu/ft @ 34Hz.

it would still sound decent in that amount, just not up to its potential. correct?

Correct. As for 1 driver.

If your planing on 2 you will most likely have less output then with 1, those drivers will be be massivly "choked".

If you dont have the hatchspace for 2, run one in a max space for a box, youll be more then satisfied.

just go with the 2 ported... sure it will be a small box, but nothing extra power wont fix

when i had my 2 L7's they were tuned to 30hz, they sounded ok for what they were... but no where NEAR any sq

I would just question, WHY?

Why would you want to run 2 drivers and have worst results then running 1, regardless of power.

I guess he can do external ports if he really wants to...that might be better...

I would do just one though...tell him to sell the other one and make some money back...
