It's well worth it. Don't go and buy nice subs, then skrimp on the amp(s). You'll just end up kicking yourself for it. As you stated earlier, the crappy Profile amps are probably one reason why your current system doesn't sound like you want it to.

I'm looking at selling my profiles and getting 1 Kenwood KAC-9102D. I think that my w3's can put out more if they have a better amp hooked up to them. They should be able to outplay 2 R's.

i hope you actually didn't get that amp yet...they are well known for overheating...

this is my rule of thumb, the price of the amp should = the price of the subs...

meaning two type x = 500, amp should = 500 for both subs

single Q = $260, should spend around $260 for the sub unless you want to get a big *** amp for more headroom in the future...

no point in spending $500 on nice subs and a $100 amp to power them or $500 on a nice amp and $100 on some crappy subs...

how about a couple alpine 1000w amps

some guy on vwvortex.com hit 140's with a single sealed type-x and an alpine 1000w rms amp in an old jetta

they're a perfect match, imo

now this amp is not going to give you the same sq as the alpine but if you're gonna go cheap, these are hard as hell to beat...

well right now i'm just looking to get some new amps for my w3's. How is a power acoustik better than an profile amp? I've always heard that they were cheap. any suggestions for an amp for my 2 w3's? i my w3's are 250 rms and 500 peak. they are 2 ohm dvc so if i have one mono amp i can wire them down to 2 ohms.

take it with a grain of salt obviously...but 12 people giving it a good review can't all be wrong...the only guy that gave it a bad review got a blown amp from the retailer...i don't see how its the amps fault...

you've heard they were cheap? well some companies do have better lines then others...and to say that since they were once cheap they will always be cheap is not always correct, that means pioneer speakers will always be junk because they were so in the past, well, i can tell you their REV's are some of the best speakers for the money...i have a pair and go to the speaker section and its the most recommended coax's out there...

so i don't think you've done any researching at all son...

theres also such a thing as a "search" button in the amp section of this forum...i can assure you its been talked about before...

we are talking about a budget amp because it seems you don't want to spend 500 on a 20.1 so i recommended these if you get the 2 x's and want to go cheaper on the amp and still get something decent...

if you're still talking about your w3's then keep your profiles...they're not bad amps, they are decent...just not the best...

well i can't find anyone to buy my w3's now so i'm looking to get a better amp so i can get all that i can out of them. I looked at thet amp again and did some reading and i think i'm going to go with that one when i do end up with my x's. Thanks
