1999 Silverado Alpine Build

Well the thought was that there is not much room behind the seat and that bolting it to that would cause the seat not to fit back into place. My seat isn't on risers and yours is. And dancer, your build seems to be coming along good. You are taking your time which is good and you will be happy with the results. You also are putting down way more sound material than I did, which will help in the long run.

Not if you made a lip.

W= wall of truck

A= Amp rack

So it would look like this from the side

WWWA

WAAA

WA

WA

WA

WA

WA

The amp rack would be recessed back and at the top would be a lip that goes out then up. You would then bolt that lip to said spot.

Even if you did it the way I did w/o raising the rear seat it would still fit. Tighter, but would still fit.

Thanks fighter, like he said either way I took it off, I didn't just take it off to put the amp rack on either, I took it off to change the fuel pump and paint the frame as well. And here are the recent cosmetic upgrades I did.

This is the before picture.

And here is after:)

Can you see what's different?

Now since clear coat on the top of the bed rails is coming off I thought I'd give some spray on bed liner a shot, so I sanded it down and put this on, I think it turned out pretty nice, and looks good too.

And I'm not sure if you can see this or not but I painted inside the fender wells because they were looking a bit drab //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fro.gif.c695f1f814b01c4ad99fe7f8cccadd29.gif, so I painted them and it made a big difference in the way the truck looks from the side.

I didn't think that just some simple things would make it look a whole lot better. I'm very pleased with how it looks, once I'm done painting the rest of the frame and touching up some of the spots that need sanding and painting (ie. the hood, roof, and top of the doors) I think it will look very nice, at least in my opinion it will look like a clean cut truck. Next thing on the cosmetic list is to finish painting the frame, after that is to repaint the grille(most likely all black), and then to tint the headlights, not sure If I'm going to tint the whole headlight or just the corners, if I tint the whole headlight I will need to get some HIDs. Also I need to order some reverse lights, and possibly a brake light bars since the tail lights are so dark, and backing up at night trying to look through a window with 5% limo on top of factory tint is very hard to do, especially without reverse lights.

I hope what I have had to say isn't being taken as "You did it all wrong, you F'ed up". You didn't. Just trying to give you other alternatives.

I like what you did with the bed top. I WAS going to do that to mine, but I have the step side and when I went to pull the plastic cover off the top/side of the bed, there's a huge channel that runs down the length of the bed where the sides meet the bed, so not only is the protective cover for protection, but cosmetics as well. You've got more patience then I do to do what you did. Looks good.

that's a good look. I bet it'll give you some extra protection when you're throwing crap in the back of the truck and such. And I agree with possibly tinted headlights and a blacked-out grill, that'd go great with what you're doing on the rest of the truck //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/thumbsupwink.gif.129404938effda6ad9cca39e7f4b58a3.gif

Thanks guys. I have two grills, the one in that last picture, and the one I painted black. Now I'm not sure if painting it black would clash with the crome bumper and rims. Now painting it all white is an Idea, could look good with dark headlights, well actually since my dad revealed I need to save every penny I can for school, I will most likely not be tinting the whole headlight, instead just the corners and the yellow part on the bumper lights. I will be sanding and buffing the headlights so they look a lot more clear. I guess I'll have to play around on some paint program to see what I want, black or white. Or I could go back to the stock grill with the black bowtie and billet, just with the corners of the headlights tinted. What do you guys think? Any ideas on what free programs for mac I could do some photo editing on?

Here is what the old grill looks like that I still have

And here is what the current grill looks like

Now I don't have the hid's anymore unfortunately they weren't working. But that's what the grill looks like. I cannot decide to whether to paint it all black, or paint it to look the same, or paint it white, or move it back to the original.

Oh I here's an audio related question. Since I have limited space under the back seat, and the air space per chamber will most likely be around 1cuft, maybe a little bit more, what will be louder, 2 12" or two 10". I still plan on the type r, which I believe a 12" has enough space to mount inside the box, but just curious about weather or not 10's or 12's would be better to go with, and louder.
