i want to take my old deck (pioneer deh-4400) and install it onto my aunts 1997 corolla. i want to know what exactly do i need? so far ive got down

-wiring harness ($10 at crutchfield)

-the cd adapter mount kit?

-tools for installation

am i missing anything? this my first time installing an aftermarket deck onto a vehicle and want some first hand tips before attempting. from the top of my head, so far ive got down; match the wires on the wiring harness by color. any other advice would be appriceative //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

does it get heated behind the deck? if so, heated enough to melt the electrical tape?

btw, thanks for the quick response //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/thumbsup.gif.3287b36ca96645a13a43aff531f37f02.gif

oh sweet.

now i need to find some installation instructions. any chance that i can find instructions for cd receiver install in toyota corolla 1997?

what are these clear nipple pieces called? where store can i purchases these at? how much they go for a piece or by a dozen? what else would i need besides those clear pieces for the wiring harness part of the install?

thanks

Just installed a cd player in my brother's 97 rolla actually, you don't need the metra guide, you don't really need a wiring harness, better to just buy harness though. I would seriously recommend soldering all electronic connections, but if you have a lack of funds, or simply don't know how to solder and don't have time to learn, just go with some butt splices, basically you just feed in each side of the wire into the open ends and crimp to hold in place. Finally wrap your splice in heat shrink and electrical tape.

Installation instructions

When pulling the cover off remove the AC knobs, just pull cover off and unhook the wiring on the back of cover for AC knobs and such. Next remove screws holding stock stereo in place. Remove stock stereo and unhook the antenna and wiring harness from back of stock stereo. I would suggest a wiring harness especially if you are a beginner at wiring, so crimp or solder wiring from new cd player to wiring from harness kit, you are going to want to make sure you match up your wiring on your kit to your factory harness. Next plug in wiring harness from new cd player to wiring harness from car. Finally screw new cd player in with factory guide and put cover back on and knobs and you are done.

Here is what your factory wiring looks like:

Constant 12V+ Blue/Yellow

Switched 12V+ Gray

Ground Brown

Illumination Green

Dimmer n/a

Antenna Driver's Pillar

Front Speakers 5 1/4" Doors

Left Front (+) Pink

Left Front (-) Purple

Right Front (+) Light Green

Right Front (-) Blue

Rear Speakers 6 1/2" Rear Deck

Left Rear (+) Black

Left Rear (-) Yellow

Right Rear (+) Red

Right Rear (-) White
