I have a 1992 Mustang GT Convertible recently restored and looking upgrade, utilizing existing speaker wire. *Note: I am some what of beginner at this so please bear with me.
Have recently purchased 6 new speakers to replace the original factory ones (3 1/2 inch Infinity for the dash, RMS 25W, 3 ohms for the dash, 5 1/8 Infinity, RMS 55W, 2 ohms for the doors....and 6x8 MTX Thunder Dome Axials, RMS 60W, 4 ohms for the rear backseat pillars)
Factory head unit was replaced with an Alpine Deck which is now toast. Harness was cut and Alpine was taped together.
Question: I recognize an Amp is the route to go for optimum power and system needs but presently for now I would like to acquire a Head Unit (that fits)....so what would be the requirements of a head unit to power the noted 6 speakers? and what would be the best wiring option?
Second: If i can find a small enough amp (space an issue) and wire the door and rear speakers (4 in total) to noted amp.... could I then wire the dash speakers utilizing a port on the head unit?
Any help appreciated
