18" HDC3 Opinions?

I have seen that some people on here have bought some of them and seen some installs but I have never seen or read any opinions or thoughts on the woofers and I am looking into to getting a pair so I am asking what are your thoughts on the woofers? I would like to know how much power and space they are seeing. I would like to know how there frequency response is, do they hit all notes with authority or do they lack on some frequencies, if so what frequencies/notes do they lack on. How is there overall tone? And how is their overall loudness and sound?

I ran a copper coil hdc318 in 5.75 cubes at 38 on an AQ2200 and I dug it. It didn't really lack anything anywhere to me. I listen to alot of rock and it was great there, it got down on rap too. The copper coil hung in fine with the 2200w as well. Considering their prices its hard to pass up that combo.

I have been wanting to try them out, but just hearing how they like higher tuned boxes 37-40hz just turns me off

They still play under tuning pretty well. I believe late night tip is under 38hz and in my setup it got the windshield wipers going nicely //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

The sub would have been fine with more power both mechanically and thermally in my setup. DJ said to run it on the 3500 comin out he'd recommend bringing the box size down quite a bit though.

I think an hdc318 on that much power in a smaller box would be a wicked combo. I'm sure the woofer wouldn't like full tilt all the time but for those occasional beatings it would rock!

hopefully sleepy_jr will chime in since he's been running a pair of 18's for several months now.

As for the AQ's and higher tuning: my HD's are tuned to 38Hz, but peaked at 34Hz, so they'll play below tuning for sure.
