150 + db with jbl W15GTi MKII?

That's fine and dandy! Your teammate also had 4 DD 9515's with a zx 2500.1 on each one. All of which was in a Ford Escape. Ring a bell!
I don't really give a **** what you say. Anytime you are in and around the 150 mark with a setup that does not have a gazillion speakers, I believe the right to brag does exist. To each his own really!
Your right, it was fine and dandy. Now this WALL, with 4x 15's and 6k~ should be louder. I would also agree that it is more impressive to do more with less, but that was not the discussion at hand. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Just simply stating for his given equipment, I (personally), would be very disappointed with my results, nothing to brag about. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I don't feel that subs are completely the reason why i would be disappointed, but a major contributing factor.

I love you JBL guys, but sometimes you get a little carried away. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif Haters? The closest thing to 'hate' on JBL in this thread is people mentioning the GTi is not an SPL oriented sub. Even if you disagree, I find it a stretch to call it hate... dont you? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif
Perhaps I read to much in to the following comments, nor did I indicate at all that they could hold up to the MT's, DP's, BTL's, or any other assigned acronym subwoofer. Without being terribly argumentative I was simply showing that it is possible, wall or no wall. BTW, there was very little Db gain in the expedition when we did the wall, but he liked the way it looked. I knew going in that the effect was not going to give us much higher results than the no wall that was in there because he would not let me put the wall behind the driver's seats. The wall is behind the second row of seats.

With that amp you have enough power. Sorry I can't help you with the subs.
Exactly what I was thinking, they are 100% SQ oriented subs. If you want something that sounds good and is loud try the Fi Q or SSA Icon.
x2
Sell them and buy a DD 9500.
are you looking for 150db under 45hz in a daily box? or at 70hz in a fart box? I dont personally think those subs can do that, not with just 2. your looking at 2kw+ per sub and those are not built to handle that much daily.

as an example, this past weekend at a show i went up against a tundra with 4 12" GTI's in a wall, he was doing 146's with windows down. great sounding subs, but i dont think they are what YOU are looking for if your giong for 150db

FUNNY!! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/veryhappy.gif.fec4fed33b4a1279cf10bdd45a039dae.gif!!

(4) 15's behind the second row of seats in a ford expedition with a sundown 1500 D on each doing in and around the 150 mark with music is disappointing?? I suppose Brian Owens Suburban or tahoe was disappointing as well since he had (4) 15's walled off behind the rear seats with a 40.1 on each doing only 155+ with music. Should have probably been more right??

Quad-cab Dodge truck, one sub, Sundown 1500D, below the window line...
crownvic, seats dont fold down, gas tank partially blocks the air flow, ect. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif But yea, 150 is doable with those subs.

..and this was sealed up on the dash on music 45-50hz or lower? numbers mean nothing without saying how it was done IMO. and im not bashing, thats still a hell of a score even burping with 1500w

OP how are you going to get metered? outlaw style with windows down, mic in the kickpanel? if so, that could be 3-4db more than what you could get sealed up on the dash.

Owens is up higher then a 55. Before you make references to others on the forum, get it correct. Maybe my expectations are too high.......i would not settle for less, with that much equipment.

I don't see what you find "FUNNY"

those W15GTI's will get over 150 in the right box.....

I was pulling 145 db out of a pair of W10gti subs with a Crown BPX 2200.1

on the dash with a TL.....

you should improve the enclosure before you spend more money on subs

In the kick with a 55hz tone...150.6 to be exact. I was using the first and only box I made too...I feel like I could have squeezed out another 1-2db with some proper testing/tweaking. Sealed up I did a 148 flat.

Look for different subs.. Youre already at a disadvantage meeting that mark if You try doing that with the jbls..
And just HOW do you come to this conclusion????? It's very easy to spew some crap out but try being help full by backing up your statement with facts. If you say the it can't be done with these subs (which is a crock of crap) then by all means tell him why and then go on to tell him what he needs according to you...//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif:D:D

Where did I say it wasnt possible for these subs to do a 150? Oh yea, I never said it.

I have had extensive use with the gti's. I know what they are capable of, and I know their are much better subs for doing what he is trying to do, and thats not sounding good.. Simply put, he has the wrong subs for sheer spl. The concept, and design of the sub is not ment for what he is trying to do, with that being said, yes a 150 is possible.

Maybe I came off a lil strong and just simply missed your point and for that I stand corrected....Not here to argue ok. (kiss kiss make up) His intent is not sheer spl though, he wants a daily driver that gets loud as hell (150+) that he can still listen too and for that he can achieve that with the gti's in the right box. I personally think he needs to add a third sub in a larger enclosure that way he can get the most out of the amp that he's got....//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif:D:D
