Here is the box design i came up with for my 15, any comments or suggestions? In other words, should this setup hit significantly harder than the previous box it was in (2.5^3@35hz) or does the new box need to be tuned higher?

If you tuned lower to get louder, you did a silly thing indeed.

Kinda figured that. So what do i gain by adding more volume?
You gain low end. It should play lower louder.

If it were me and this was a box to play music while still metering well. I'd shoot for 3.5ft @ 35hz.

tuning low like that will make the Type-R sound a little more smooth, but you wont get louder

I peak right around 29-30hz, and my setup sounds great.

For loudness (while not going totally SPL), tune around 32-34hz. I had the best of luck in 4cu ft net @ 33hz in a ford explorer

"Hit harder" is a vague term. I just interpreted as him wanting to score higher on the mic.

That tuning is silly low, unless you listen to nothing but the 30hz region.
Uhh... the point is to have a nice flat response.

You did measure the length where the port ends? Like, actually going into the box.

When tuned that low, Type R's have a terrible response curve, at least theoretically in WinISD. There's a big valley above tuning, and a large peak near tuning, which would more than likely give you exaggerated extreme lows in a car. They model much better with a higher tuning and a smaller box.
